December 2010

Well Christmas has finally come and gone and what a busy time we have had! To kick off the holiday spirit we had our first snow fall and Madelyn seemed to be pretty interested in the snow outside the window
Photobucket
Our neighbors came over for a little Christmas cookie baking one day. Of course Madelyn helped along side were her friends Carsyn and Gracie
Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

The following week we worked on our Christmas card picture but unfortunately the takes weren't exactly what I hoped for.
Photobucket

Matthew's Marine buddy came into town and not only did Madelyn make 2 new friends but so did her brother and sister.
Photobucket
Meet Guiness (tan and black) and Murphy aka "shmurf"

They treated Madelyn as well as Roxie does. It was very different for me to look down and normally see this

to seeing this
Photobucket
But I think for the most part Madelyn enjoyed her uncle dan and his kids
Photobucket

A few days before Chirstmas we had a string of lights go out on our tree so Madelyn helped me by putting a new strand up. (I wish this would have happened when I was trying to get a Christmas card photo)

Then it was finally Christmas! Thankfully Madelyn was able to get a good nap in between houses because she seemed to be in great spirits both Christmas Eve and Christmas day

Photobucket
(yes those are Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer slippers on her)
It wasnt until we got to Grandpa Jim's where it was getting to be past bedtime and Grandpa Jim decided that he wanted to throw a fit along side Madelyn (he he)

But as Christmas day was starting to end she got into her jammies and decided to lay down with her uncle Nic

Until her Aunt Erika interupted... (totally kidding Erika but Madelyn's face is priceless)

Id say after all of the running around, weather, and lack of sleep this past month we had a fantastic time these last 26 days. Only two more Christmas celebrations to go and that will be the end of Christmas 2010 for us.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful gifts and well wishes this holiday season (even those that we were not able to see). From our family of five to yours we wish you a safe and happy new year.

Daddy taught Madelyn a new trick to drive Mommy nuts with

I try so hard not to laugh when she does this but sometimes you just cant help yourself!

Other things that we giggle at include

Mind you, we are not letting her drink her bath water. The angle of the camera just makes it look as though we are.

Last but not least!!!! Not that this has anything to do with this entry but, I am so proud of my daughter! I introduced her to Mickey Mouse this was the reaction that I got

She is most definetly my kid!

Just to name a few.....

Just a few of my favorite faces Madelyn makes

Photobucket
The "My belly is full"

Photobucket
The "What is she doing" (which comes quite often when Roxie is around)

Photobucket
The "Hanging out"

Photobucket
The "This is fun!/Giggle"

Then...This face breaks my heart but it comes in slow motion and you can't help to giggle

Photobucket
The "Im upset"

The New Kids On The Block

Well we really got very lucky. There are now 4 new kids on the block. Madelyn is 4 1/2 months, Gracie, our neighbors new little girl, is only 2 weeks old, Steel our good friend Josh and Tish's little boy is just about 3 months old, and Carsyn (Gracie's big brother)is now 1. Two boys and two girls....we are truely blessed.

Here are a few pictures of Maddy and the boys this past weekend

Apparently Madelyn can't have all the glory....

So in one of my more recent posts I told you that Madelyn has rolled over. I still have not been able to catch it on video yet but I was able to catch these few pictures tonight when Roxie wanted to do the same shall I say "trick"?

Photobucket
Madelyn playing by herself....Roxie was checking it out

Photobucket
And then Roxie was making sure everything was going well

Photobucket
Then Roxie got bored had to help Madelyn

Photobucket
They both rolled over!!!

I never thought when I was pregnant that Roxie and Madelyn would be so close that they had to do everything together. I have a feeling that this will only get worse....Or funnier...

Rolling Rolling Rolling

Little Miss Madelyn rolled over by herself for the first time yesterday. It was a moment that melted both of our hearts. Afterwards she was grinning so big as if she knew she did something good. We hit a huge milestone!

So in other news....

Miss Maddy isnt spoiled by any means....
Halloween has come and gone and Madelyn had not only ONE costume but had two
Photobucket
For our towns trick our treating night

Photobucket
And for Halloween day

Since it was really chilly the night of our towns trick or treating we only went to our neighbors house and then back home. The pups didn't get to join us this year but on of my favorite costumes that I have used in the past for Sammy was this
Photobucket
A little lobster!!!

Roxie was going to be a Ducati enthusist and wear one of my shirts (sorry no picture)

I am thinking of maybe putting the three of them together in someway next year. As of right now I think I might make Sammy and Roxie thing one and thing two and make Maddy the Cat in the Hat. Any other suggestions out there? (Matthew and myself will just be the stroller pushers and picture takers thats about as far as we might both go but who knows!!)

My Day. Written by Madelyn

5:30 - 7:30 WAKE UP MOMMY!!!!! FEED ME!!!

8:00-9:00ish?? Playtime

10ish I get worn out and need to rest my neck so I talk to mommy

Followed by a nap
45 min later....
Im up again. Mommy normally lets my brother and sister out while I am either playing or napping. They came inside because they wouldnt stop barking at the FedEx lady who brought me something new
My brother and sister had to check it out first. Nothing gets past them...
Photobucket

I finally got to sit in it and since the dogs wouldn't leave me alone Mommy thought it would be a great idea to let me help her do the dishes and even clean up the house.
Photobucket
Roxie even helped mommy clean up today. She started nudging mommy's leg while we did dishes and it was because Roxie had a leaf in her mouth. She's such a good helper.

We did a little bit of scrapbooking today too. I am really loving my new Bumbo seat.
Photobucket
Then a short cat nap again

After all of that we will get out of the house if its only up to walmart or to walk around the yard or down the street but its always good to get out for a little bit.
We will come home and play then I cant take it anymore I will need a long nap.

In the evening my brother and sister just love to play sometimes they even play with me. Or at least it seems like it... I think I had a rock, leaf, bug or something under my saucer that Roxie wanted.
Photobucket

So after I get my bath I will fall asleep while I eat and mommy will bring me upstairs to my room and off to bed I go! When mommy comes back downstairs, her seat is always taken by Roxie.
Photobucket

(Mommy Note: all of these pictures and videos were taken in a course of a few days and she does not live in her PJ's even though most of my pictures it seems like she does. Also, I figured you werent all that excited to read about everytime she eats, poops or sleeps. Don't worry....she does all of those things and more.)

Mini Matthew

So people are constantly telling me "Oh she looks just like Matthew" I completely agree and after taking this picture yesterday I dont believe he could deny her to a blind judge.
Photobucket
This picture was taken of him when she was about 2 weeks old.
Photobucket

Along with the fact that she looks JUST like him, her bodly functions are exactly like his as well..... (I wont go into more detail but im sure you get the point)

She might look like him, have his bodly functions, and get the sleeping gene from him but I do hope that down the line she gets SOMETHING from me.

Shorties......

Unfortunately Madelyn and I were away from the pups and Matthew the last couple days so we don’t have much to update with but I do have a few shorts.

This past spring/summer a bird nest was built right above our side door inside our carport. In a course of a week I had picked up at least 4-5 dead birds. I used to call them our suicide birds. Now that it is fall I am starting to notice that we have suicide frogs. A week ago I found a frog at the bottom of our steps and today Roxie found one in our basement (yes, she was flipping out about it). I really am interested what winter will bring.

As I was feeding Madelyn today on the couch, Roxie decided to come up and snuggle me. She was at first head on my shoulder but soon moved and decided Madelyn was more comfortable so she rested her nose under her legs. Roxie didn’t seem to mind that after eating Maddy was pulling on her ear.

Madelyn watched her first soccer game this weekend. She went with her Nana Barb and Pop Pop Ron to Aunt Allison’s soccer game.
She also went to see Grammy and Grandpa Van and Great Mamaw Jane showed up too!

Madelyn is now 22 ½ inches long, 11 lbs 9oz and her head measurement is in the 75th percentile. She must have got it from her daddy.

Her Aunt Chels and Uncle T got married this weekend so she was able to finally meet her Uncle T and even see Aunt Stacy.

Roxie does not like when Matthew wears socks. She tends to attack his feet. –One of the funniest things to watch when Matthew comes home from work. Please know that they are only playing in this and Sorry for the poor quality.

Being gone for a few days was really nice but I think Madelyn and myself were happy to be back home with the our hairy family members.

Digging to China

Found Roxie digging a hole in the backyard today and because of that she had to go to her jail. As im coming up to the living room I told Madelyn that Roxie had to be in time out because she was bad, Madelyn gave me a huge smile and giggled...I love that kid.

Lesson Learned: That girl has a sense of humor

Baby's Best Friend

Naptime is such a relaxing time for both Madelyn and myself. On this particular day I had put her down for a nap and decided to get a bite to eat in the kitchen. (for those of you who have not been to our house the kitchen is just around the corner from the chair she was napping on) This is what I came back to
Photobucket
FANTASTIC!

A little while later Madelyn and I are in the kitchen then came back to the living room only to find this.

Guilty
Photobucket
I give credit to Roxie for be the ultimate bug catcher in our house (she has eaten a fly in mid take off) but in this case im not too proud of her for taking Madelyns toy off the coffee table.

Something I found interesting was that we rescued Roxie only a few weeks before finding out I was pregnant with Madelyn. One of the most memorable things I had about being pregnant with her was that Roxie would snuggle up along side of me digging her head between my belly and the couch and fall asleep with Madelyn.
I guess some things never change....

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Since Sammy has a severe case of separation anxiety, we trust him enough to not need to be on the leash when outside. Of course there have been the rare occasions where he gets about 20 feet away from someone walking he will bark and then run away. That’s besides the point. For the most part he stays in the yard and minds his own business.

Until it storms

The other afternoon a storm was about to pass through our small little town. The wind was blowing like crazy, our wind chimes were going nuts, and the trees looked as though they were going to snap in half.
Madelyn had just been fed and as I am burping her (which is a waste of time since my child wont burp for anything) I notice Roxie is outside going nuts over the storm that is about to hit. I go outside unhook her which NORMALLY signals Sammy that its time to come in. He wasn't in sight whatsoever. So I just head inside knowing that in about a minute that hairy little guy will be at my back door whining to come in.

Fastforward 5 minutes

At this point, I am starting to worry. I go outside to the backyard and call his name...Nothing. I walk to the front of the house...Nothing.

I at this point I look like Dorthy calling for Toto before the tornado hits. Ok, so there was no tornado, but I would say that I do have a cowardly lion and and a munchkin so in this case Id say the "ruby red slipper fits"

I digress.

Madelyn was inside with Roxie who was still flipping out and I decided to go head inside myself. As im walking down the steps to come inside our house here comes Sammy from our front yard.
I do not know what he was doing while I was calling his name or where he had gone but I would venture to say that I think he started chasing after the fallen leaves since I caught him doing that this morning.

Lesson Learned: Invest in a rake

Fall fun begins

After fighting with Madelyn to get some sort of a nap in this afternoon she finally fell asleep in her bouncy seat.

A few minutes later Roxie found a tree leaf stuck under Maddy's seat and was determinded to have it making her disrupt Madelyn.

Roxie was able to get the leaf and ate it.

Lesson Learned: Madelyn can sleep through anything & there isn't much Roxie WONT eat.

The Keystone Light Debacle

Last Monday morning at 8:45am.
Matthew had just left to go out of town for work. Madelyn and I normally play around this time talking, moving around, belly time, reading, and some singing. Roxie joined in on the fun and it makes Madelyn smile (of course just melting my heart). As the three of us were playing Roxie accidently knocked over a unfinished beer from the night before with her tail spilling all over me, Madelyn and herself.

So here I am 9am smelling of stale beer, fighting with Roxie to stop licking Maddy, then giving Madelyn a bath. After coming home from work that afternoon Roxie still smelled of beer and Madelyn apparently thought it was time for bed (Bathtime is everynight around the same time followed by reading and eating then its off to bed) so needless to say this day was a difficult one trying to get Madelyn to realize 2pm was not 8pm.

With it all said and done those two had a eventful Monday morning but for me, I don't think I enjoy smelling stale beer that early in the morning.

Lesson learned: Finish all alcoholic beverages.....

In the last 8 weeks

When we brought Madelyn home from the hospital both of the dogs kept their distance but don't worry Madelyn's brother and sister kept a close eye on the newest family member.
Photobucket
Photobucket

As she got a few weeks older Roxie had no problem helping her move and scoot around. This will come in handy when she decides to start crawling.

Photobucket

Madelyn has just started to finally figure out the schedule we have her on but even better yet she has started to discover sounds of voices, colors and who is around her.
Photobucket
And who can forget Sam Sam, Sammy McPupperson he normally just ignores Madelyn but on a rare day the camera must be ready for Sammy to finally say hello to her.
Photobucket

Last but not least, I know I posted this picture in the last entry but I just love it so much. I dont believe in the days, weeks or years to come My 3 children, all playing nicely, being perfect little angels, will ever be spotted like this again.

Meet Madelyn, Roxie and Sammy.

Meet my 3 kids. Sammy is my three year old Cockapoo who would be considered the most calm out of the three but once in a blue moon will suprise me with some antic of his own. Madelyn is my 8 week old daughter who obviously trumps the other two and has her own way of making me smile. Finally my pound puppy, the one who rules the house, who has more quirks and antics that make me wonder where she came from and what she did prior to us adopting her. Meet Roxie my year and a half old pointer mix who is one of the weirdest dogs I have ever seen or met.
